Q. Can I receive messages from inmates using EmailingAPrisoner.com?
A. Yes! Once you have signed up simply click on the Mail Forwarding link in your account options and turn it to ON. This will change your return address on the envelopes to our address. We will scan all incoming messages for you and upload them to your account for you to download as a .pdf. We charge $1 for each 6 page images scanned. There is a $25 per year box rental fee to use this service.
Q. What do you do with the original letters after they have been scanned and uploaded to my account?
A. We save the original letters for 2 months before they are shredded. For example, if it is January, we save all of the mail for January as well as December. On February 1st, December mail will be shredded and January mail will be held until March 1.
Q. If my letter is returned or rejected by the prison how will I know? Where will the letter go?
A. Since we use your return address on the envelope, if the letter is rejected it will be returned to your address. Unless of course you are using our Mail Forwarding Service, the letter will be returned to us and we will notify you that your letter was rejected along with whatever reason was provided if a reason was given.
Q. My letter was returned, will you resend it for free?
A. We are not responsible for returned letters. It is up to you to make sure you provide the correct address for the person receiving the letter as well as follow all mailing rules and guidelines set forth by the institution the inmate is located in.
Q. Do you provide refunds?
A. Refunds are unable to be given. Our system is setup to allow you to add funds at your discretion as little as $1 at a time. Therefore we ask that you only deposit what you anticipate using.
